Julie gained a degree in Animal Behaviour and Welfare from the University of the West of England in 2011 after many years of studying behaviour unofficially.
She has 20 years experience working with domestic pets as a registered veterinary nurse (RVN), 17 of which have been spent at S.P.A Veterianry Services Ltd in Gloucester where she continues to work as well as teaching the practical elements of veterinary care to students nurses.
She currently has 2 rescue dogs and 3 cats of her own and has owned numerous small mammals in the past including rabbits, guinea pigs and hamsters. She has been vegetarian for 15 years and is concerned about all aspects of animal welfare from domestic species to wildlife.
She is a member of ASAB (Association for the Study of Animal Behaviour),Tthe British Veterinary Behaviour Association (BVBA) and The Institute for the Study of Anthrozoology (ISAZ). She is a provisional member of the APBC (Association of Pet Behaviour Councellors). Provisional membership is granted to those who have met the academic requirements but who have yet to gain the required practical experience for full membership.
